UN to give green light for five new ministries

Prishtina, 23 August 2004 – Five new offices that function within the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) could be turned into ministries after the elections if the UN gives the green light for this, writes Bota Sot. The paper notes that even though initially it was said that in the near future these offices would be transformed into ministries, the issue will depend on the UN SC.

PM Rexhepi’s adviser Behxhet Halili has said to the paper that ‘this does not depend on the Kosovo provisional institutions but it exclusively depends on the UN, which would give its approval through the UN Legal Office in New York’. This issue, according to PM’s adviser, also depends on the transfer of reserved competencies. ‘Their transfer is subject to negotiations between the Kosovo institutions and UNMIK’, said Haliti.
