The German Telecom is seen as the front runner in the race for the privatization of 75% of Kosovos Post and Telecom (PTK). Interest in this enterprise has been expressed by France Telecom, Turkcelli from Turkey and the investment company Delta Partners, headquartered in Dubai. Telekom Austria will probably not run at all.
German Telecom, which has been competing with its Croatian subsidiary company “Hrvatski Telekom”, is seen as the favorite by the other competitors .
On the other hand, based on a report of the Austrian newspaper “Wirtschaftsblatt”, Telekom Austria will not take part in this race.
Although the German Telecom has so far not commented on its interest, the German media are reporting that the offer to acquire 75% of Kosovos Telecom will not exceed 200 million euro.
According to sources within Kosovos Government, the above mentioned amount is very low compared to expected price from the sale of PTK.
