Kosovo to conclude new Free-Trade Agreements

Prishtina, December 2, 2003 – The undefined political status of Kosova is the main obstacle to regional and European integration, said Besim Beqaj, Kosova’s coordinator to the Stability Pact.

Mr. Beqaj made these comments on a press conference, organized to present the activities and the achievements of the Stability Pact office in Kosova.

He also said that there are some new Free-Trade Agreements to be concluded with countries in the region. So far, Kosova has signed such agreements with Albania and Macedonia while imports from Serbia and Montenegro are not subject to any customs.

In the future, once such agreements have been signed between all countries in the region, the entire Balkans will be one market of 55 million people, concluded Mr. Besim Beqaj.
