Kosovo Prime Minister meets pensioners

Prishtina, 15 August 2007 – Prime Minister Ceku assured the pensioners that the government will work in finding a way to reward their contribution, and also informed them that the legislation on pension insurance will be presented to the assembly for approval by the end of the year. The Prime Minister made these announcements during a meeting he and the Minister of Labour and Social Welfarehad with representatives of pensioners.

“I had the idea of establishing a ministry for solidarity between the generations, which would enable you to benefit from the contributions of the new generations,” said Ceku.

In terms of the pension fund taken from Serbia, the prime minister promised the government would request this fund to be returned.

The Secretary of the Pensioners Association, Shaban Kajtazi, raised once again the concerns of the pensioners, in particular the delay in implementing the pension insurance legislation.
