Kosovo: Bosnia asks for full market liberalization

Prishtinë, Oct 18, 2005 – Bosnia and Herzegovina officials are not ready to accept the requests of the Kosovo delegation regarding the FTA, said an official of the Kosovar Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).

“UNMIK Pillar IV official Andreas Wittkowsky forwarded us a letter he had received from Bosnian officials, indicating that they do not agree with our requests regarding the FTA,” said the official.

“Bosnians did not agree that UNMIK sign the agreement on behalf of the Kosovo institutions. They want the Government only to have the role of an observer while negotiating and signing the agreement.”

“Bosnian officials ask that the market between the two countries be fully liberalized.”

According to the official, the MTI Group on Trade Policy will meet on Monday to discuss this request of the Bosnian officials.
