Kosovo will benefit from CEFTA

Prishtina, 12 January 2006 – The CEFTA agreement will bring better economic development in Kosovo and a bigger market for local companies. However, Kosovo’s budget will suffer some loss in this regard, as reported during the economic press briefing held yesterday.

“The CEFTA agreement will come into power from 1st of May. With the agreement Kosovo producers will have access to a bigger market consisting of 22 million customers, which is 11 times bigger than the Kosovo market,” stated Deputy Head of Pillar IV, Andreas Wittkovsky.

According to Wittkovsky, the agreement will help attracting foreign investors. “With the conclusion of this agreement on trade cooperation between regional countries, the path for introducing Kosovo products on these markets will open and that will have an impact on the economic development of Kosovo in general,” said Wittkovsky.
