Prishtina, July 5, 2005 – On Monday the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) Soren Jessen-Petersen signed the report on the “Kosovo Internal Security Sector Review” (ISSR), calling for the ISSR to start work as soon as possible within the Prime Minister’s Office.
Jessen-Petersen sent the report to all domestic institutions, the Parliament, the Government, the Presidency and international organizations including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the UN, NATO, and KFOR. The report addresses the importance of establishing the Security Sector.
Jessen-Petersen said that there was a genuine willingness on all sides to become involved and that the concept has been endorsed by all Kosovars consulted during this process.
The report, according to Jessen-Peterssen, will lay the foundation for a critical project: the establishment of an efficient, affordable, and accountable internal security sector for all people of Kosovo.
