Kosovo reports progress to IMF

During a three-week visit in Kosovo, representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were informed by the Kosovar Ministry of Economy and Finances (MEF) about progress in the areas such as budget, energy and revenue collection.

The Minister of Economy and Finances, Ahmet Shala, informed IMF representatives for the reforms undertaken in Tax Administration, in the energy sector, improved revenue collection in Kosovo Energy Corporation, improved public financial management, etc.

MEF and the IMF have also reviewed measures to be undertaken by the Government of Kosovo to ensure the success of major projects of national interest in Kosovo.

Kosovo government has received advice from the IMF for the strengthening of budgetary processes, implementation of capital investments, improvement of road system that promotes regional integration and improves competitiveness, etc.

In 2009 Kosovo became a member country of IMF and the World Bank.
