Kosovo: Real GDP Growth Forecast for 2008 is 5.2%

Prishtina – Kosovo’s Ministry of Economy and Finances (MEF) has published the macroeconomic report for the first half of 2008. MEF expects the real GDP growth for 2008 to be around 5.2%. Consumption and investments continue to be the main reasons for the growth. According to MEF, the growth of 5.2% is encouraging, having in mind the increasing inflation rate in the first half of 2008.

The most interesting fact in the report is the increase in exports for 101%, compared to the same period last year. Kosovo has exported during the first half of 2008 around 103.5 million Euros more than in the same period of last year. Imports have also increased for 26.7% in 2008.

According to MEF, financial sector continues to remain very stabile in Kosovo. Both loans and deposits are continually increasing.
