Kosovo progressing towards trade agreement with the EU

Government of Kosovo has promised to meet all criteria required for the signing of trade agreement with the European Union.

The European Commission experts have highly valued the work of Kosovo institutions during the previous negotiations.

So far, the EU and Kosovo have discussed concrete issues in the field of customs, rules of competition, protection of copyright, public procurement reform, inter-institutional disputes, the elimination of tariff barriers and many other issues in trade area.

Deputy Prime Minister, Hajredin Kuqi said that completion of all these criteria will improve the investment climate.

Based on a previous decision of the EU, Kosovo already enjoys a preferential trade status to export goods in the EU countries. In addition, Prishtina and Brussels are currently negotiating a new agreement, which further improves trade relations.
