Kosovo Power supply in winter 5 hours on, 1 hour off

Prishtinë, Sept 22, 2005 -The KEK General Plan for supplying citizens with energy during the winter season will be 5 hours on, 1 hour off. However, the domestic generation of energy cannot guarantee this schedule, because according to KEK calculations, the maximal production of energy will be 700 MGWh, while the demand would go up to 900 MGWh.

KEK Spokesperson, Paloke Berisha, told Zeri that KEK has planned to repair some power plants in order to increase capacities for the winter.

€13.5 million have been allocated by the Kosovo Consolidated Budget for the Generation Division. €3.3 million have been allocated for the repair of the B1 unit, 10.3 million for the emergent repair of the A3 unit.

Berisha explained that the works on repairing the A3 unit are expected to resume by the end of September, and it should end within 120 days, or the end of January 2006.
