Kosovo: optimism back in the wine industry

Prishtina, 10 September 2007 – Since the privatisation of the vine cellar in Rahovec, by the Albanian-American businessman Harry Bajraktari, the situation in the Kosovar viniculture has positively changed.

Just one year ago local farmers were planning to destroy the vineyards whereas this year they were offered convenient prices and are planning to widen the vineyards. “After the privatisation of the cellar, farmers are very satisfied with the price of grape collection. This is a good price. Even compared to countries of the European Union (EU),” said Abdullah Kryeziu, Director of Agriculture Directorate.
