Prishtina, 24 April 2007 – 70 fuel tanks are still blocked at the Custom checkpoint at the border of Kosovo and FYR Macedonia. The Fuel Traders Association and the Chamber of Commerce requested from the Ministry of Trade and Industry the permission for the trucks to enter Kosovo. The Inspectorate within the Ministry of Trade and Industry sticks to applying the administrative regulation on fuel quality. “The Ministry will not give in and is determined to send those tanks back,” said Head of Inspectorate of fuel quality Xhevdet Leci.
Customs explained to the public that they are only implementing the order of the Ministry. According to a Customs press release, they have blocked 75 fuel tanks. “The Customs Service offered all importers, according to the Customs legislation, to return to their suppliers,” reads the press release.
