Kosovo: Inauguration of new power plant in 2019?

7 September 2011 – The Kosovo Government foresees the inauguration of the new power plant project “Kosova e Re” to be in 2019. This project, which is expected to cost about 600 million euros, will be implemented through a public-private partnership.

In an announcement, the Ministry of Finance stated that: “Construction of the new power plant is expected to start in 2013. An amount of about 100 million Euros will be invested every year with the goal to develop new capacities of 100 MW per year”.

The Kosovo Government has already pre-selected few consortia who will take part in the tender for the construction of the new power plant. In the short-list to implement this project are the following consortia: Adani Power / PT Adani Global from India and Indonesia, AES Electric / Demir Export AS from the U.S and Turkey, Park Holding from Turkey and PPC Contour GlobalLLP from Greece and Britain.
