Kosovo Chamber of Commerce signs an MoU with Informest

Prishtinë, Apr 9, 2006 – The agreement on cooperation between the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Informest (four Chambers of Commerce of Italy), foresees the exchange of information with Informest for strengthening the small and medium enterprises in Kosovo through the cooperation of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce with European chambers.

The President of KCC, Besim Beqaj, said that this cooperation would create a partnership with the other chambers of Europe. Beqaj also said that the unsolved status of Kosovo is presenting a problem, but signing this agreement will bring it closer to other European Chambers.

The Director of Informest, Ugo Poli, stressed that this is a 24-month agreement that will be extended if the two parties agree.

“We participate in a certain number of European networks such as the development programs of the local employment and also an initiative to improve SMEs,” said Poli.

In an interview with RTK, Beqaj said that Informest is a state agency, established by the Italian Government in 1991, which aims at promoting Italian foreign investments in the region of southeastern Europe.

“During March we had many visits, first from Italy, and these visits resulted in this agreement with Italy. We also have an agreement with the Federal Chamber of Austria, and with Croatia,” said Beqaj. “We will travel to Turkey with the Minister of Trade and Industry and with Mr. Ruecker to reach a cooperation agreement with Turkey and to sign an agreement on protection of Turkish investments in the Kosovo market.”
