Kosovo: Assembly approves budget 2007

Prishtina, 1 December 2006 – The Assembly of Kosovo yesterday approved in principle the Kosovo Consolidated Budget of €715.5 million for year 2007.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Haki Shatri, said that the budget revenues for 2007 are 4.7% higher than in 2006. Shatri also said that International Monetary Fund has put pressure to focus expenses on capital investments.

Media report that the 2007 budgetary deficit is estimated to be €34 million and is lower than the deficit in 2006. This deficit is planned to be covered by government cash reserves, TVs and dailies report.
