Kosovo and Turkey deepen economic relations

The Kosovar Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Ahmet Shala hosted in Prishtina Turkey’s Transport Minister, Mr. Binali Yildirim.

At this meeting ministers discussed the possibility of cooperation between the two countries, with particular emphasis on the infrastructure sector, rail and air transport, since according to them, these are important investments that affect the country’s economic development.

“We discussed about the possibilities for cooperation between the two friendly countries that share common visions for the European future. We also discussed Turkey’s experiences, from which Kosovo could learn a lot. Anyone who has traveled to Turkey 10 years ago and travels today can see that the changes in road infrastructure are incomparable. This has an analogy with the developments taking place recently in the Republic of Kosovo and I am sure that in a very short period changes will incur in rail and air transport “said Minister Ahmet Shala.

He further added: “I took the opportunity to encourage Turkish companies to use the natural bridge of friendship between the two countries to explore every corner of the possibilities of financing or execution of major projects in Kosovo”.

On the other hand, Transport Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Binali Yildirim, said “Kosovo has built a lasting peace and stability and soon we will be witnesses of a built Kosovo that has realized infrastructural and institutional projects, and despite the global economic crisis growth of 5% in Kosovo is to be praised”.

Turkish Minister also added that: “We, as Turkey, are ready to share our experiences in infrastructure, rail and air transport. We are willing to cooperate in these areas. These are important investments that affect the country’s economic development”.
