Panama and Kosovo ready for economic and political cooperation

Prishtina, 01.04.2014 – President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, met the President of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli in the country’s capital, Panama City, where she was attending the World Economic Forum Latin America.

In the meeting, President Jahjaga stressed that Kosovo has managed to build a democratic and inclusive society and is consolidating its statehood in the international arena. She said that Kosovo has already been recognised by 106 UN member countries and 23 EU states.

President Jahjaga noted that Kosovo aims to become a full-fledged member of the EU and the UN and stressed the contribution Panama can provide in lobbying for Kosovo’s recognition in countries of Central and South America.

On his part, President Martinelli expressed the readiness of his country to assist Kosovo in the processes it is going through and spoke about establishing cooperation in the field of economy, politics, culture and other fields of common interest.
