Kosovo: plan for airport concession completed

Prishtina, 11 April 2007 – After receiving the plan for the concession project prepared by BearingPoint, a USAID contractor, the Government of Kosovo has begun preparation for this process. David G. Bilcliffe from the contracted company is already placed in one of the offices at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

“We will continue with our work, we are not involved in this process,” said the airport’s spokesperson Skender Bucolli.

The Government, before the concession, has a few months to work on creating the legal infrastructure and define the weaknesses and advantages of the project. They have established an Inter-ministry steering committee that will cooperate with experts and do a feasibility study. Haki Shatri, Minister of Economy and Finance will head this committee. Other members will be Qemajl Ahmeti from MTPT, Bujar Dugolli from MTI, the Office of the Prime Minister, and a representative from each, KTA and UNMIK.
