The Kosovar Ministry for Economic Development has identified 77 locations in Kosovo where the construction of Hydropower Plants is possible. The World Bank, which is supporting Kosovo in developing its energy resources, has concluded that having in mind all positive side effects, the production of clean energy in Kosovo is cheaper than thermal power.
The Ministry has concluded that Hydropower Plants in Kosovo can produce a total of 128 MW of energy. A study conducted by the Berkeley University of California has concluded that in the worst case, Kosovo can produce 62 MW through its future hydropower plants, while the best case would reach over 140 MW.
So far, 10 potential investors from Germany, Albania and Kosovo have announced their interest to invest in hydropower plants in Kosovo.
