Kosovo: Highway construction interrupted

Prishtina, 22 january 2007 – The construction of the Prishtina-Lipjan highway has stopped for some time now, reportedly due to properties of some Serbs alongside the highway. But, it is KEK that is to be blamed for this, RTK reports.

According to officials of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunication (MTT), the work is expected to resume as soon as the weather improves and KEK removes the electric poles. MTT and KEK signed a memorandum of understanding on removing around 30 electric poles that impede the construction of the highway. “KEK promised us that they will soon remove the electric poles,” said MTT Spokesperson, Shefki Ukaj.
