Kosovo admitted to World Bank

Kosovo had confirmation from the World Bank on Thursday that it has been admitted to the institution, Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said.

“We received today confirmation from the World Bank that the board of governers of the World Bank has passed a resolution on the admission of the Republic of Kosovo in this organization,” Thaci told reporters. “This is successful for Kosovo, its institutions and people,” the Kosovo leader added.

“In several days, a state delegation from Kosovo will travel to Washington to sign the admission agreement with the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. The IMF offered Kosovo to become its 186th member last month.

“Having been admitted into the World Bank, we will get more alternatives, more possibilities and bigger economic aid. The membership of Kosovo in the World Bank automatically increases international investors’ trust in Kosovo,” said Thaci.
