Demand for goods “made in Kosovo” increases

Prishtinë, 31 July – Local producers of construction materials have confirmed that the demand for their products has increased after the governmental decision to block imports from Serbia and apply 10% customs rate on imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The effects of the blockade for the producers of the food-stuff are still not significant due to high stocks of such goods in the Kosovo market.

The construction materials have represented the main portion of imports from Serbia and therefore the governmental measures have had an immediate effect in this sector. Skender Bajrami, tjhe owner of the brick factory “Industria e materialeve ndërtimore, IMN NIKI-S”, has stated that the demand for their products has started to increase. According to Mr. Bajrami his factory has the capability to meet the market demand but in order to do so further investments will be required.
