Busek: Kosovo to be included in Regional Processes

Prishtina, May 2004 – The special coordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, Erhard Busek, stated yesterday that the Pact would continue including Kosovo in regional processes in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, and that this organization will consider ways to contribute to the implementation of the standards for Kosovo. At a session of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna, he recalled the March 17-19 events in Kosovo, specifying that the wave of violence that took place represented a step backwards not only for the development of Kosovo, but for the entire region of South Eastern Europe as well. Busek assessed that the good cooperation between Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro (SCG) had enabled most people to return to their homes, but that there was still the problem of the return of refugees from Kosovo. He pointed out that the Stability Pact was ready to support UNMIK in the resolution of that problem, media reported.
