The value of deposits done by non-residents in the Kosovo banking system has reached about 100 million euros in 2011. In the Financial Stability Report published last week, The Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) points out that the deposits of non-residents have increased by 33.7% by June 2011.
Overall deposits of nonresidents in the country have a 5.1% share of total deposits in the banking sector, as compared to 4.3% in the same period last year. “The continuous growth of deposits of nonresidents in the country is the result of favorable interest rates on deposits and increased confidence of the public towards the banking system in Kosovo, which has resulted in the better stability and performance of this system,” is further stated in the report.
In June 2011, total deposits in the banking system in Kosovo reached a value of 1.9 billion euros, marking a growth of 11.8% compared to last year.
