Kosovo opposition suggests the privatization of VALA

Prishtina, 23 February 2007 – Representatives of the Shadow Government firmly believe that the first operator of mobile telephony in Kosovo, VALA, should be privatized before the second operator enters the market. The sale should take place through public tender and closed bids.

According to them, Vala should have been privatized while it was the only operator in Kosovo. With the second operator license issued, the value of VALA has halved.

According to Head of Shadow Government Telecommunication Department Blerim Rexha, the Kosovo Government will collect €81m through the second operator but lose some 84 – 140 million euros by not privatizing VALA timely.
