Kosovo: Landline telephony with new Internet service

Prishtinë, Apr 1, 2006 – Very soon, Kosovar consumers will be able to benefit from a quality service from the Post Telecom of Kosovo (PTK). On Wednesday, PTK officials demonstrated a new program in relation to the modernization and expansion of its infrastructure over Kosovo, which is related to 24 hours Internet service.

“Within the investment program of this unit, the modernization and expansion of the communication infrastructure are under work,” said Vehbi Sheholli, Project Manager in the Landline Telephony Unit. According to Sheholli, with the finalization of this project, each consumer gains 24 hour access to internet. “Each consumer can be provided with multi-media services, video, telephone and voice services,” he said.

The PTK has signed a EUR 17 million contract with “Alcatel” for the modernization of all communication systems in Kosovo.
