Kosovo: KTA again to be managed by internationals

Prishtina, 31 January 2007 – According to some media reports, after the final political status of Kosovo is resolved, the competencies of Kosovo Trust Agency – KTA, currently in charge of privatization process, will be transferred to the EU mission. The EU mission would be in charge of privatization of socially and publicly owned enterprises, liquidation of enterprises and the Special Chamber of Supreme Court, which solves privatization-related issues.

According to an EU plan for the mission in Kosovo, the KTA Board will comprise at least three international members. Currently the Board has eight local members, but there is a possibility that the numbers of locals in this body will be reduced.

The Special Chamber of the Supreme Court will comprise of 10 international judges, while every panel will also have two international judges.
