Rossin: This year may bring independence to Kosovo

Prishtinë, Feb 23, 2006 – The outgoing UNMIK Deputy Head, Larry Rossin said on Wednesday in Pristina that this year might bring independence to Kosovo, and added that it is important that all citizens should see that they have future in this country.

“I believe that 2006 will be the year when Kosovo will perhaps become independent, and this is not because it is a policy of UNMIK or of the SRSG, but because this has been said recently by many international diplomats,” Rossin said.

He said that a lot of efforts have been invested for Serbs to join the Kosovo institutions, “but unfortunately they have not returned and lost this opportunity of their interest.”

Rossin is leaving Kosovo to take over the post of the PDSRSG in UN Haiti mission.
