Regional chambers of commerce want to integrate regional markets

Representatives of Chambers of Commerce from Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro, said that economic cooperation in the region should be improved.

At a meeting organized by Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KCC) in Prishtina, they agreed to harmonize tax regimes and avoid double taxation.

Chairman of KCC, Safet Gerxhaliu said that the region needs consistent and comprehensive effort to improve regional cooperation by organizing joint events and activities, meetings, fairs, business trips, as well as harmonization of tax regimes, and avoidance of double taxes.

President of Union Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Albania, Ilir Zhila claimed that regional markets are too small to be competitive with international ones, and for that reason need to integrate.

He praised the relations and the cooperation of chambers of commerce in the region.

Representatives of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia and Montenegro said that the region should be open to increase economic cooperation, simplify customs procedures and liberalize agricultural products.
