PRESS RELEASE
2 April 2007
Since November 2006, with financial support from Austrian Development Agency – ADA, the Vienna-based Economic Initiative for Kosova – ECIKS is implementing the project “Foreign Investment Promotion in Kosovo”.
Within this project, ECIKS has established an Office in Vienna and is representing the Investment Promotion Agency of Kosovo – IPAK in the German-speaking region (Austria, Germany, and Switzerland). The project is also supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Kosovo.
After the successful completion of the initial project phase, the Vienna Office is now, in close cooperation with IPAK, increasing its image building activities and other activities towards identifying potential investors in the German-speaking region and offering them both information and free-of-charge services on investment opportunities in Kosovo. The project has so far identified more than 100 potential investors, while 9 companies are already seriously considering investment possibilities in Kosovo. There are 2 Austrian companies which are currently visiting Kosovo and using the services offered by the Vienna-office of IPAK. The fact that two other Austrian companies participated in the biding process for energy and telecommunication sector in Kosovo, and yet another two companies entered the Kosovar insurance market, also shows an increasing interest of Austrian investors for Kosovo.
In supporting projects in economy and employment, the Austrian Development Agency aims at intensifying the economic cooperation between Austria and Kosovo and in using the great potential and interest of Austrian investors for Kosovo, while at the same time, closely coordinating with local stakeholders such as MTI, IPAK and the European Agency for Reconstruction – AER.
