The Government of Kosovo has adopted the bill on the budget for 2009, which amounts to € 1.43 billions. Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi said that the budget was planned in coordination with the coalition partner and civil society in order to be inclusive. According to PM Thaçi, they aspire to be part of international financial institutions in the coming period.
The Kosovo Minister of Economy and Finances, Ahmet Shala stated that next year’s budget will enable an economic growth of 6% for Kosovo. He noted that they are aware that the demands are much higher than the projected budget.
Today was the first time that Government’s transparency was put into question for about 20 minutes. Media were allowed to be present in Government meeting only after the Government adopted the budget bill. The media in Kosovo is allowed to regularly attend meetings of the government.
