France, Kosovo to strengthen economic cooperation

A delegation of French businessmen accompanied with the French Ambassador to the Republic of Kosovo,Delphine Borione, met yesterday with the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce representatives. They agreed to continue to further the support on the economic level and establish better flexibible economic policies to enhance the investment activity in Kosovo.

The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce Secretary General, Berat Rukiqi, invited the French businessmen to find their place in the Kosovar market as well as begin concrete investments in the newborn country.

“Kosovo Chamber of Commerce will offer support for all the business activities and economic cooperation among businesses of France and Kosovo; not only in terms of trade, but also of joint investments between French and Kosovar companies,”said Rukiqi.

France has been supporting Kosovo at economic ,political and security levels; stressing the scope of such meetings between business representatives from both countries.

“We have important meetings from different EU countries, where Kosovo traditionally has a regular and intensive cooperation. A such economic cooperation we also have with France and we consider that now is the time to expand our cooperation,” the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce said.

Besides the French-Kosovar trade cooperation, Rukiqi said that “Kosovo Chamber of Commerce is interested to have concrete investments in Kosovo; in close cooperation with Kosovar companies. He stressed that after this visit,the Chamber expects to achieve other forms and levels of cooperation with Kosovar and French companies.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of France in Kosovo, Delphine Borione, emphasized that her country will continue to support Kosovo in all spheres of life, including economy.

“We acknowledge the economic progress made in Kosovo for the one year of independence. We have witnessed how the institutions and the people of Kosovo are in the right path towards the European integration,” Ambassador Borione said.

“The economic integration of Kosovo in the European market will be supported and helped by the French companies,” she said and invited the two countries’ businesses to continue, intensify and deepen bilateral co-operation.

During the meeting, representatives of companies from France and Kosovo talked specifically about possibilities of cooperation between their companies and later they visited several Kosovar companies with which it expected to establish economic cooperation.

In the framework of activities for creating conditions for wider cooperation between Kosovo businesses and other states, the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce will organize a meeting with the representatives of businesses from Greece next week.
