Erhard Busek to advise ECIKS in promoting FDI to Kosovo

Dr. Erhard Busek, the former Vice-Chancelor of Austria, will continue increasing his support for the activities of the Economic Initiative for Kosova (ECIKS) by becoming its special advisor. The Vienna-based organisation that supports the economic development of Kosovo, also represents the Investment Promotion Agency of Kosovo in the German speaking countries (IPAK-Vienna). Erhard Busek has continuously supported the activities of ECIKS in the past. His reputation and knowledge will be of key importance for ECIKS in further promoting foreign direct investments in Kosovo. ECIKS is honoured to strengthen the cooperation with Mr. Busek.

“It is of extreme importance not only for Kosovo but also for South East Europe, in the European context, that the economic and social development of Kosovo is improving. This is an obligation towards all the human beings living in Kosovo”, said Mr. Busek while explaining his decision.

Dr. Erhard Busek was the Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe until the handover of the mandate to the Regional Co-operation Council. He is currently the Coordinator of the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative (SECI), President of the European Forum Alpbach, President of Vienna Economic Forum and Chairman of the “Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe”. Starting from January 2009 Mr. Busek will advise the Czech Government on Balkans during the 6-months EU Presidency.

The IPAK-Vienna office, managed by ECIKS and financed by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), has had excellent cooperation with Mr. Busek. In the last two years the project has provided services to over 110 potential investors and has facilitated or supported 13 foreign direct investments in Kosovo.
